Do You Have Your Full Attention?

Developing an attention muscle is a very useful strategy to adopt. Anything that allows more conscious awareness of yourself can be insightful and bring you more choices in life.

There are many people who are terrified of the here and now. They are so scared of the moment because they have to trust it and be fully present. They feel more comfortable dwelling on a memory or projecting into the future. by doing that they make me and others unavailable to them, since we can't join them in the past or go with them into an imaginary future.

I encourage my clients to taste the here and now so I can be available to them. It isn't easy for those who have not been able to trust others and have difficultes making relationships with themselves. - most don't want to discover unacceptable sides of themselves. They would need more than just techniques in focusing or attention muscle development. They need to first trust, and then be willing to have a relationship with themselves.
Hello Remez:

Excellent article!

I agree with you 100%. Thoughts are indeed very powerful.

In fact, you can tell what kind of thoughts a person usually thinks by looking at his current situation.

If a person is financially broke, in poor health, and incarcerated, you know that this person had been thinking negatively for years before this situation occurred.

If a person is wealthy, in superb health, and owns a successful business, you know that this person had been thinking positively for years before this situation occurred.

Thoughts are the starting point for all successes - and all failures!

Personally I get my daily dose of motivation by reading powerful literature.

Some of the most inspiring books are :

- Think & Grow Rich
- Iron Will
- ..and more

It does not even cost anything to read them. The internet is home to great treasures that need to be mined.

I share my hobby for powerful and inspiring literature at my website

Change no matter what kind or how devastating it is can really throw people for a loop. The fact is you have to accept the present moment and go from there. Of course, this takes practice and every situation is different. We just have to keep in mind we only have the present moment. Great post.

It seems to me that you are talking about extrinsic motivation when you are talking about motivation. You are referring to being focused on some goal you want to acheive. The way I see it, there is intrinsic motivation too. This is when you are focused not on the reward of acheiving some goal but on the reward of being the kind of person you need to become in order to have acheived that goal. It is really about wanting to become a more loving person and better able to express that love. That may be just a semantic difference between that and inspiration, or it may be that this kind of intrinsic motivation just leads to inspiration. But I think the important thing here for being successful is about who you want to become instead of what you want to acheive.
