Self hypnosis is a great tool for goal setting and self improvement. Most people are surprised at how easy it is to learn self-hypnosis. And self-hypnosis, in turn, makes a lot of things much easier.

Self hypnosis is usually thought of as a person listening to an audio tape, mp3, or other mass-produced media, intended to induce a willingness to absorb suggestions centered around a specific topic such as weight loss, stop smoking, etc.

Unfortunately, this kind of hypnosis is generally prepared by someone who has never met the person being hypnotized, often presenting unwanted, even unpleasant imagery and suggestions.

For example, if you sunburn easily, that last thing you want to hear about is a slow walk on a sunny beach. In this case, the "self" in self hypnosis simply means that you listen to it by yourself.

How do you incorporate self improvement to hypnosis?

To be able to go about self improvement, there are certain aspects in you that should be addressed. Using hypnosis, the negative aspects that are serving as hindrances to improvement are eliminated.

A true self hypnosis would necessarily be designed and created by the very person who will ultimately use and benefit from it.

Unlike the mass-produced hypnosis, this hypnosis is made for the exact purpose the person wishes, including the precise words and phrases that mean the most to that particular person.

The true self hypnosis is thus crafted by the person to suit his or her own needs. The benefits derived could only be accomplished with such a personal, one-of-a-kind hypnosis. In this case, the "self" in self hypnosis really does mean that you are hypnotized by yourself!

Below is a short view of the self hypnotic process. Though lots of variations of this method have been used, these are the basic steps you have to go through in order to hypnotize yourself to accomplish self improvement.

1. Position your goals from the most important goal to the less important. If possible, your goals should be measurable.

2. For each goal, you should formulate fitting suggestions which means you have to convert your goals into specific instructions to your subconscious mind on how to achieve each goal.

3. Relaxation. Use the first minutes of your self hypnotic session to get as relaxed as possible. Try to forget all your worries and problems.

4. Start your hypnotic initiation phase by saying and repeating out loud the hypnotic words you have chosen, thinking of these words or listening to a hypnotic tape or CD customized for your hypnotic and goal fulfillment needs.

5. Apply the hypnotic suggestions you have made for reaching the specific goal you work with, say them out loud, think them or use a tailored hypnotic tape or CD.

Before you start up your self hypnotic exercises you should make a time schedule for it. Do your hypnotic sessions every day, five minutes a day is enough. Repeat your suggestions as often as possible during the day.

Measure your progress. Are you closer to your goal now than you were before you started? Ask yourself. If you answer negative to these questions, you have to rethink and reorganize your train of thoughts.

This is the only way you can find out if this method is really helping you in achieving your self improvement goals.

                20. Apr 2008 05:23, shahjee

Self confidence is a mental and emotional state of mind that responds to an individual's need for self-acceptance and peer recognition. It is among the oldest and most studied concepts in psychology. It is used to describe a positive but nonetheless adequate perception of oneself and one's abilities. As such, people with self confidence usually have a better idea of the things they are able to do and are more apt to be successful in their projects. They are able to more readily admit and learn from their failures.

On the contrary, a lack of confidence might prevent you from believing what you do and decide will finally work out the way you had intended. It can hence hamper the improvement of decision-making aptitudes, planning and managerial abilities all of which are essential and mandatory skills in the business world of today. The pre-occupation with other people's opinions of your work may also cause you to become excessively self-critical, which will distract you from things you would have otherwise been fully capable of performing.

Low self confidence will also affect your social life, as people with low self confidence tend to stay in their "comfort zone" and are afraid of being rejected. This is called social phobia and is usually associated with low self confidence, as well as other mental afflictions such as depression. People with low self confidence are scared of being judged by their peers and will avoid talking to new people, which can subsequently lead to isolation and even lower self confidence. Low self confidence is a vicious circle that's difficult to break.

On the other hand, because they are able to trust their abilities, people with self confidence are able to do what they feel is appropriate and do not expect the approval of others. They also trigger confidence: your boss, employees, customers, friends or relatives will be more likely to believe in you or in the things you are telling them if you appear self-confident.

Different experiences can lead to low self confidence. New research indicates that parenting style has a major impact on the development of a child's self confidence. Corporal and psychological abuses during childhood are for instance the worse for a person's self confidence, as well as family conflicts or divorce. Overprotective parents may also be a reason for a child's social phobia and inhibit the independence that is necessary to develop self confidence. Failures and successes, for instance at school or in one's professional life, also play a significant role: losing a job or failing a class are some of the several experiences that will negatively affect your self confidence.

There are nonetheless ways to overcome those bad experiences and improve self confidence. The first thing to do in order to build self confidence would be to learn to know who you are and what your strengths are. Recognizing that you cannot be perfect and cannot be the best in everything you do will help you gain self confidence. Accepting who you are is the key to building self confidence. But improving self confidence also requires that you start taking risks and giving yourself credit for your achievements. This is very simple advice that will help you improve self confidence. You may also find plenty of books that will claim they can help you improve self confidence, however not all of them are reliable.

A lot people suffer from low self confidence or are only able to gain self confidence in one or a few areas of their lives because they constantly look for other people's approval and are afraid of failing. Many factors, including childhood traumas, can explain why certain people cannot have the wholesome life a self confident person could have. These persons also don't always know how to gain self confidence. However improving self confidence can now readily and effectively be achieved thanks to hypnosis and NLP.

As we have seen before low self confidence and social phobia can stem from traumas or unconscious fears that may be difficult to overcome through self persuasion only. Confidence hypnosis and NLP on the other hand are able to get to the unconscious part of our mind and modify belief systems to boost self confidence. They are effective tools that will help you address your fears and trust yourself to develop self confidence.

Confidence hypnosis has been used for several decades and has shown significant results in building self confidence. Once in a hypnotic state, accessing unconscious thoughts is a lot easier and, through hypnotic suggestion, you will be able to replace your negative thought patterns with positive ones to boost self-confidence.

By: Alan B. 22. Mar 2008 09:21, shahjee

Sadly the world is a depressing and very frightening place for a great many people. They hold a view of a world that is full of hardship. They do not see challenges only obstacles which inevitably lead to failures. They fail to try and therefore are destined to fail. Their past failures, pains and disappointments continually haunt them and invariably lead them away from their goals and the type of life they yearn to live. It may be true that life can throw things in your way that will slow you down on your path to our desires but you must see these as challenges that you can overcome. They are lessons that make you stronger and wiser.

When you become a goal orientated person you can expect to encounter resistance and obstacles on your journey to goal-achievement and personal success. The higher you set your sets and the more challenging the goal then the more obstacles seem to appear. These temporary set-backs test your character and your resolve to reach your goal. They sometimes act as barriers to slow us down but they always act as teachers.

There is always something to learn from resistance. Whether this resistance is external or internal it is showing you something in your own character or approach to your goal that needs altered or refined. Meeting these challenges and overcoming them will develop aspects of your character, strength your self-belief and helps to increase your resolve for the future.

However, do you find that the same obstacles keep showing up again and again? Is failure becoming a common occurrence? Then it is high time you re-evaluated your approach to goals and life in general. These recurring problems are most likely a strong indication of your personal inability to learn from your mistakes. These are merely temporary failures you are experiencing and you should view them as such. The conscious mind is obviously having trouble analysing the reasons behind the failures and keeps making the same mistakes but once you find out what you are doing wrong and learn the appropriate lesson you will not experience these same set-backs again.

If you are experiencing constant failures then you have reached a point where outside help is needed. It is obvious that you are unable to consciously work through the trouble by yourself. Therefore these failures and problems must stem from a subconscious block. This subconscious block is preventing you from learning your lesson and moving forward towards your goal. In a situation like this it is always advisable to seek professional help but this can be expensive, time-consuming and hard to find! However, you will find that hypnosis can be an invaluable tool. Either Hypnosis or Self Hypnosis can most definitely be used successfully and very effectively to dig up the very root of the problem and eliminate it permanently.

One extremely powerful benefit of using hypnosis is that it gives you the ability to train your mind to stay focused on a successful outcome. You can program any specific outcome you choose and keep yourself thinking positively about it throughout the day. You can also use hypnosis to eliminate self-sabotage patterns and remove the negative feelings and thoughts that are blocking you from success.

Here are some tips for using hypnosis as a means of conditioning you for success and goal achievement.

1. Start to Visualize. You can literally program yourself for success. You can, through mental rehearsal, program your subconscious mind with your desired outcome. By using self hypnosis to bring yourself into trance you can create the perfect mental environment for visualizing your goal as if it has already happened. See it, in your mind’s eye, as already being real. Imagine the scene as if you were seeing it through your own eyes. Experience all the wonderful feelings associated with that goal attainment. Let these feelings of joy and accomplishment well-up within you.

2. Develop Persistence. By accessing your subconscious mind you can change your inner personal traits to match those people who are successful. These are the people who never quit. Through hypnosis you can reprogram your subconscious mind to be persistent regardless of what obstacles you encounter. Using post hypnotic suggestions to develop an “iron will” and persistence will be invaluable in times of stress and disillusionment.

3. Think Positively. Your subconscious mind has a tendency to only replay past memories along with all the emotions associated with it. It offers these emotions to your consciousness in the form of doubts and fears for the presnt and especially the future. Through hypnosis you can totally eliminate them forever. Use self hypnosis tp program your subconscious mind to think positively and to always expect positive results.

4. Eliminate the Problem. It is inevitably that some problems will arise when you pursue worthwhile goals that are important to you. Life has a tendency of creating situations that reflect our inner beliefs and fears. In order to successfully create anything you need to deal with these issues. Through hypnosis you can solve these problems quickly and effectively. When you enter trance see yourself as already having successfully overcome the obstacle. You don't have to see how you did it or how you found out how to do it, you only need to see yourself at the other side, joyful and proud that you eliminated the problem for good and reached the other side. If this, in itself, is a problem for you, or you find it hard perform this mental exercise then seek the advice of a qualified hypnotherapist. A competent skilful hypnotherapist will easily and quickly find the root of your problem and just as easily remove it!

5. Prepare your path. Imagine yourself at the end result. Imagine that you have already met the right people and that you had been in exactly the right place at exactly the right time. Program your mind in this manner, through the power of self hypnosis, and your subconscious mind will pick up on any non-verbal clues in your relationships and environment and effortlessly guide you to the perform the correct and essential course of action that will lead you to your goal.

6. Develop unshakable faith in yourself and your objective. Use self hypnosis to convince your subconscious mind that your goal is, in fact, already a reality. Fake it till you make it – act as though your goal were already true. Fool your mind into believing the objective world around you is actually exactly like the world you have been visualizing and working to create. While in trance you will get so deeply involved in your visualization and the feelings it produces that, in that very moment, you believe it is already true. You will enjoy all the feelings that this imagined scene evokes and this will create your scence even faster.

If you follow these simple six steps and use them with the power of hypnosis or self hypnosis you will be catapulted towards your goal faster than you can possibly imagine!

Source: http://www.articlecube.com

Hypnosis products reviewed for free.

Believe the hype or think for yourself

For too long hypnosis has had a bad or 'difficult' press. If a person doesn't understand something they have 3 options open to them.

1) They might be sceptical and therefore save the trouble of looking further and possibly benefiting.

2) They may conclude it is dangerous and to be avoided at all costs.

3) They may spend time discovering the truth behind the hype.

If you don't know much about a topic it's easy to be suspicious. Some people assume hypnosis is akin to a carnival side show, others consider it mystic mumbo jumbo or 'mind control.' For those who look beyond the hype the truth is far more illuminating.

The most powerful tool you possess

There are potentially huge benefits for those who use hypnosis as part of everyday life. When you understand hypnosis you start to see its potential to improve human performance in the physical, emotional and intellectual realms. For me, rumour, gossip and suspicion weren't good enough.

I determined to learn all I could about hypnosis - I learned every fact and practised every technique under the sun. I took several training courses - some good, some terrible. I invested thousands of hours of devoted study to hypnosis and discovered just what is possible. I hypnotised friends, neighbours and work colleagues. Hypnosis greatly changed things for me on a personal level

How hypnosis helped me

I used to be shy. Thanks to hypnosis I can now talk to thousands at a time and can approach anybody calmly and confidently.

I used to have poor concentration and procrastinate; thanks to hypnosis I can instantly motivate myself.

I used to find physical work outs and exercise exhausting but because of hypnosis I am now in the best shape of my life.

Incidentally I also stopped myself blushing with hypnosis. Now if ever I have a difficult call or conversation coming up, something I may naturally feel reluctant to do (you know the kind of thing) I spontaneously self hypnotise and rehearse the upcoming situation feeling good, with myself remaining calm. In this way I habitually set my own emotional 'blue prints' for up coming situations. Having said that it's naturally that some people have concerns or half digested 'hand me down' ideas regarding hypnosis. A common one is the one about 'mind control.' However what does this really mean?

Why you are more in control of yourself in hypnosis

If someone expresses concerns about being 'controlled' in hypnosis what they mean is they don't want to be like a robot, an automaton that is forced to obey the every whim of the hypnotist. We can't help but influence others but we don't control them. To understand why you need to understand hypnosis better.

So what is hypnosis like?

Hypnosis isn't like a coma. It's not unconsciousness - more a subtle shifting of consciousness. In hypnosis, you can still think logically but you also have access to the 'software' of your mind so that you can update instinctive emotional and physical responses. In fact the hypnotised subject (not the hypnotist) calls the shots. When I hypnotise someone I need to go at their speed and respond to their needs and expectations. Hypnosis will give you more control in your own life because of what it enables you to do.

How can I be so sure?

Because over the decades I've seen all kinds of people, all ages and from all backgrounds turn their lives around thanks to hypnosis. When you use hypnosis for yourself it improves confidence in all kinds of ways. When you use it to change other's lives it just blows you away. This is what I mean.

When I first hypnotised someone to feel no sensation in a painful arthritic arm it was an incredible feeling. When I first cured life long phobias quickly and comfortably I was astounded. When I stopped hardened alcoholics from drinking and even got a heroin addict off the stuff and back into mainstream life again I started to feel angry that people could just associate hypnosis with entertainment.

With the aid of hypnosis I (and many people I have trained and worked with) have helped severely depressed people feel strong and positive again. The rewards and satisfactions are hard to describe. I'm going to take a stand against ignorance and short sightedness around hypnosis and here's why.

Why you need to reclaim hypnosis for yourself

Hypnosis is your birthright. It's nature's optimum learning tool. In fact to learn and perform anything well you need to experience a natural focussing of attention, a natural kind of hypnosis. To be successful hypnosis needs to be your companion and friend.

Successful people use it naturally all the time because hypnosis is natural. It's the way we learn new responses. Unlike medications its side effects are purely positive - one expectant mother I worked with to feel relaxed during child birth later reported that she was also more relaxed when flying!

Hypnosis is easy to learn and every body can benefit. Hypnosis is a safe environment to 'try out' new behaviours and emotional patterns before you experience them for real. So the young man can ask a woman out for a date many times in calm relaxed hypnosis so that by the time he does it for real it feels real and natural and relaxed. Sports people who use hypnosis learn new quicker and more accurately. So hypnosis gives you more control of yourself and your life, it's natural and gives you instant benefits and it's a way of 'trying on' and establishing new patterns of emotional response and behaviour, Hypnosis enables you to develop yourself as a human being.

HypnosisDownloads.com offer a free course called 'Learn Hypnosis in 5 Days'.

Article by Mark Tyrrell of Hypnosis Downloads.com.

Hypnotherapy certainly isn’t the be all and end all and it isn’t going to be saving the world anytime soon, however it is an effective route that you can take for self change and personal development. Hypnosis can boast mega success as it deals with the part of your mind and brain that makes you – YOU. It is as simple as that! With Hypnotherapy you can start living your life by design instead of living by default. This is one of my most favourite sayings and I just want to cover exactly what it means.

So many times we get out of bed in the morning, we go have breakfast, take a shower and then get off to work. And then things happen to us throughout the day that we just react to automatically without thinking and challenging what we believe or think about certain situations. We allow them to occur; we react automatically and then get on with our lives. Sometimes we react automatically with low self confidence and sometimes nerves or phobic responses take over automatically. And this is what I mean about living by default – just existing, and doing nothing to change true or real outcomes in your life.

Living by design is completely different. We now know so much of how the human mind works and what makes us tick, that we can begin to ultimately decide the lives of our dreams. We can actually begin to work on designing the lives that we want to live.

Ok this may seem a bit far fetched, and believe me when I started out in Hypnosis I thought the same, however just by using Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy I have achieved so much. I have even achieved results that have been astonishing. For instance I have written a best selling book, have appeared in numerous publications and have been on countless radio shows. My biggest achievement is helping the hundreds of clients that I see each and every year in my Hypnotherapy practice here is Oxfordshire UK.

Now if you would have known me in my teens then you would have understood that this was a pretty impossible task. And heck in my teens I would have even have thought that this would have been impossible! But now I am achieving my dreams by earning more money then I ever have before and being happier then I ever have been before. I am really starting to enjoy living the life that I have created for myself and the people around me.

So today Hypnosis is a very viable option for you to use for self change. Look around on the internet as you will find tons of sites with some great information, by all means feel free to stop by my site and take a look. And be sure that if you have any questions to just drop me an email through the site and ask away!

About the Author: Richard MacKenzie is a leading professional in the field of Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy.

One thing that I really like to do here in my Oxfordshire hypnotherapy clinic is teach my clients the art of Self Hypnosis. This is so that they will be able to go away without a CD or a book and actually be able to practice Hypnosis wherever they may be. So even if they are in a busy airport lounge, at home or even in a stressful situation they will have something that will help them to feel more comfortable and relaxed and also to allow them to take control over the way that they want to feel.

One of my key sayings is that we should live by design instead of default. This is exactly what Hypnosis allows us to do. Hypnosis allows us to decide the major and minor outcomes in our lives, thus allowing us to live by design instead of by default.

There are so many ways that you can learn Hypnosis today. You could pick up a book on Self Hypnosis or Hypnotherapy, you could get some downloads from the internet or some CDs and you can even search for information on the internet to allow you to develop skills within Hypnosis or Hypnotherapy. However this truly is not going to make you a Hypnotherapist. For this you need to set aside some good quality time and find some really good quality training.

In most counties in the world, Hypnotherapy as a profession is not properly regulated, so I always suggest that if you really what to take a career in Hypnosis and become a Hypnotherapist then you can either get in touch with me or get in touch with your local/national Hypnotherapy organisation within the country where you reside to ask for recommended training schools. Even though most of these organisations will be self regulated you can be reasonably confident that they will act professionally and recommend someone that will really help you.

If you just want to learn Self Hypnosis then my suggestion is to just take a look around the internet and you can even visit my site to find books and downloads which you can get to really help you to build basic skills in Self Hypnosis. Now when I say basic, Self Hypnosis is very powerful, however the techniques are very simple to learn, if you learn them with the right approach.

And here is a word of warning from me to just close off this article. Hypnosis is an extremely powerful tool and you can really make some serious changes in your life. You could turn your life around on a cent and get a life worth living. Please think before you use Hypnosis about what you really want to achieve, because this for you is a real and viable option to get the life of your dreams.

About the Author: Richard MacKenzie is a leading professional in the field of Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy. While these are wonderful benefits from the practical application of hypnosis, they are just a small sampling of the possibilities.

For example, hypnosis can be an excellent tool when applied to school work, studying, or academics in general. As the new school year begins, for both children and those adults who are returning to school, anxiety and unease are often heightened. Hypnosis can be an effective tool for calming your nerves and taking the edge off your stress. But that's not all. It can also aid in increasing your concentration, in developing a better memory, in building stronger study habits, even in making the learning process easier.

Many of these same skills can be applied to career development as well. Self confidence, decision making, verbal and written skills, motivation, concentration and comprehension ... these are all important job skills that can be enhanced through the use of hypnosis. Having a slight edge in any of these areas can open up an entire world of new opportunities.

But it doesn't stop there. Hypnosis can also enhance your athletic performance. Not only can it be used to increase your self-discipline, it can be used to help you focus on each and every aspect of your athletic execution (whether it be swimming, track, skiing, football, whatever) to improve each little movement which in turn improves your overall performance. The results of using hypnosis for fitness and competition have proven amazing, making this a valuable training tool for athletes in all sports, at any level.

And there's more. Hypnosis can be used for overcoming your fears. The fear of public speaking, claustrophobia, stage fright, a fear of heights or spiders or snakes ... these are all areas that can improve dramatically when hypnosis is administered by a professional hypnotherapist.

How about bad habits? We addressed some of the more common ones in our introduction: overeating and smoking. But hypnosis can be applied to nearly any bad habit, be it biting your nails or procrastination, compulsively checking your e-mail or hair pulling. And while these may strike you as minor bad habits, hypnosis can be helpful with the big ones as well: gambling, drug abuse, alcoholism, etc.

Pain control, depression, memory improvement, healing, relationships, sexual dysfunction, tension and stress ... the list of areas where hypnosis can be used goes on and on. In many of these situations, hypnosis can be used on its own, in others it can be used in conjunction with other therapies or treatments.

Whether working with a professional hypnotist, hypnotherapist, or working the problem through with self-hypnosis, you'll be amazed at how hypnosis can improve many of the areas of your life.

By: D.

Hollywood hype would have us believe that a hypnotist can control and direct our actions, and that we can be made to do all sorts of unimaginable things under hypnosis. Following is a list of some of these common myths which must be clarified before we proceed further.

The hypnotist can make you do things against your will.

Absolutely False. The hypnotist has no powers over you at all, and cannot make you do things against your will. All Hypnosis is really self-directed and self-controlled. The hypnotist merely guides you into a hypnotic state, and feeds your mind with carefully worded suggestions. If you feel uncomfortable with these suggestions, you may reject them at will. Hypnosis is essentially a matter of cooperation between the hypnotist and his subject, not some form of power the hypnotist possesses which will compel the subject to submit to his or her will.

Once under Hypnosis, one can’t come out of the state on his own.

If you are under hypnosis and the hypnotist suddenly left the room, two things may happen. You will either realize that the hypnotist is no longer talking to you, and will open your eyes, feeling fresh and alert. Or, you may drift into natural sleep, in which case you will wake up after a few minutes (or hours). So, the subject can come out of the trance on his own.

Only weak-minded people can be hypnotized.

False. Hypnosis has nothing to do with will power. People often confuse hypnotibility with gullibility. There is no connection between the two. On the contrary, the more intelligent a person is, the easier it is for him to be hypnotized. To be hypnotized, one needs the abilities of concentration, imagination and vivid visualization.

Under hypnosis, the subject is totally unconscious.

At all times during the course of a hypnotic session, you will be able to hear and to think. You are aware of what is going on around you. Although your body is very relaxed, your mind is actually more alert than usual. Many people are worried by stage hypnosis and the fact that the subjects, many of whom do ridiculous things during the session, seem to have no knowledge of anything around them. The unfortunate part of such an activity is that it often frightens away those people who could really benefit from hypnotherapy, but are afraid of losing control.

Under hypnosis, one can be made to reveal his secrets.

As mentioned above, under hypnosis, the subject is fully alert, in fact more alert than usual. The hypnotist can only guide the subject to remember forgotten memories. Whether the subject will reveal them to the hypnotist is entirely at his own discretion.

Hypnosis is dangerous.

Untrue. It is quite the opposite. Hypnosis is a safe and natural process. One fact that most people are unaware of is that we undergo Hypnosis several times in our daily lives. For example, while driving along a highway, very often, people suddenly discover that they have lost consciousness for several minutes. This is actually an example of momentary hypnotism. However, someone with epilepsy should never be hypnotized.

One needs special powers to be hypnotized.

Any average person with the willingness and patience to learn, can master the skills of hypnosis. Like other skills such as playing the piano, or learning a foreign language, some people are “naturals”, and become accomplished with little training while others can increase their abilities through regular practice. A good, confident voice is an advantage, but not a must. Of course, children lacking an understanding and appreciation for the subject (usually below the age of 5) may not respond to hypnosis in the desired way.

The user might become dependent on hypnosis.

You cannot become dependent upon hypnosis because it has no physical effects on the body. However, many people look forward to their daily hypnosis exercises because they become totally relaxed and awaken refreshed.

Source: www.easyarticles.com

About the Author: Pradeep Aggarwal is a renowned Hypnosis & NLP guru with career spanning two and half decades He is also a much sought after speaker and peak performance consultant for organizations and sport teams.
